The Historian's Office - Town of DeKalb, NY

The Township of De Kalb encompasses the communities of De Kalb Junction, Old De Kalb (De Kalb Village), East De Kalb, Kendrew Corners, Stellaville, Osbornville, Bigelow and the Village of Richville. The first settlement expedition (1803) was organized by Judge William Cooper of Cooperstown. De Kalb has a rich historical legacy visible in the form of farmhouses, barns, fences, churches, mines, graveyards, roads, hedgerows and fields.

When planning to visit the archives, it is best if you plan ahead and use our online indices to search the indexed records in our collection. Make a list of the books and pages you will want to examine.

Be aware we have additional records such as land contracts, photographs, maps and other miscellaneous records that are not indexed that you may want to spend time searching during your visit.
